Rated the A-League's best player in 2016-17 after winning the Johnny Warren medal, Ninkovic's re-signing couldn't have come at a better time for new coach Steve Corcia.

Ninkovic's decision to extend his contract is a tremendous vote of confidence in Corica, who takes over from Graham Arnold.

"You've seen over the last three seasons what a player Milos is," Corica said.

"His influence both on and off the pitch makes him such a great asset for this team, and to have such a fantastic creative outlet in our squad is a big bonus.

"I'm glad we've been able to retain another one of our core group of players."

Ninkovic made his debut for Sydney in the 2015-16 season and the 33-year-old soon became a fan favourite under Arnold.

His status as one of the club's most influential players was sealed when he scored the winning penalty in last year's A-League grand final against Melbourne Victory.

Ninkovic said he was looking forward to extending his time at Sydney FC to at least five A-League seasons.

"Sydney FC is my home and my family, and I'm so happy to be staying a Sky Blue," he said.

"I've enjoyed some of the best moments of my career here, I've won four titles in three years and my family loves this city too."

A member of Serbia's World Cup squad in 2010, Ninkovic has made 99 appearances for Sydney FC in all competitions, scoring 24 goals.

"I'm excited by the journey ahead in the new season and I can't wait for the silverware still to come," said Ninkovic, who earned 28 caps for Serbia.
