Part of the Alanvale Apartment complex next to Archers Manor, the 30 strata apartments released are available under six or 12-month leases.
University students, young families, retirees and couples seeking their first home were among those inspecting the semi-furnished properties on Saturday.
Archers Manor general manager Robin Dornauf, who owns Hillwood Berry Farm and leases Archers Manor for the farm’s picking staff, said there had been plenty of interest shown on the day.
“There’s been a lot showing interest in the two-bedroom and three-bedroom properties,” he said.
Mr Dornauf said people inspecting the properties had noted the safety and security aspects of the complex, which is close to the University of Tasmania, has easy access, and large grounds.
One young couple from Alanvale inspecting the properties said they had been looking for their first home for a while and had struggled to find a property.
“We’re looking for a starter place,” Jacob George said.
“It’s been a little bit hard, we’ve been looking for about six months.”
It’s hoped the apartment release will help ease pressure on Launceston’s housing market and provide safe, long-term accommodation at accessible rates.
The 30 apartments are listed at rental prices of between $150 to $350 per week.
