Tasmania Fire Service investigators remained at the Hobart Road address on Wednesday morning where a blaze engulfed part of a house on Tuesday night.
The fire broke out just after 5.30pm, with a number of concerned residents calling triple-zero.
Multiple crews were called to the scene and were confronted with heavy smoke and flames.
The fire was contained, but not before it caused “significant” damage to the front of the home, where firefighters believed it started.
The damage bill has been estimated at $280,000.

Crews patrolled the fire overnight before investigators arrived the next morning, along with Tasmania Police forensic officers.
Investigators finished up at the home on Wednesday afternoon, but could not determine whether the blaze was accidental or suspicious and it was instead deemed “undetermined”.
Nobody was inside the house at the time of the incident, but neighbours came to the rescue of a dog at the property.
It was understood the dog was recovering well on Wednesday.
