It was found by a member of the public on Sunday, after the fruit was bought from a retail business.
Investigations from Biosecurity Tasmania traced the fruit and the larvae to a supplier in Victoria.
That supplier was immediately given a temporary suspension, Biosecurity Tasmania general manager Dr Lloyd Klumpp said.
All further produce from the retailer has been removed.
Dr Klumpp said the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment was liaising with Victorian authorities about the process the infected fruit was subject to before it was export to Tasmania.
Fruit fly was first detected in Tasmania in mid-January, on Flinders Island.
Since then, it was further found at Spreyton in the North-West, and in February, adult fruit fly was found near George Town in the Tamar Valley.
Thousands of properties are under biosecurity control zones.
While the cause of the state’s fruit fly incursion is yet to be pinpointed, it is thought a system failure at a Victorian treatment facility was behind some of the cases.
