Tasmania will be hit with severe thunderstorms on Sunday morning.
The Bureau of Meteorology predicts total rain of up to 40 millimetres to fall in the North, with the Western Tiers and North-Eastern highlands facing up to 50mm.
The Bureau said the thunderstorms were likely to produce heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding in the North-East, which could affect Bridport and Scottsdale.
Possible thunderstorms could hit the North in the morning, finishing off with strong, gusty winds later in the day.
The snowline is expected to sit around 1100 metres at night.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
- Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
- Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
- Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
- For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.
