Tim Bullard has been promoted to Education Secretary after acting in the role since late last year.
A policy analyst and lawyer, Mr Bullard joined the Education Department in 2016 after working in the public sector as a deputy secretary in the Premier’s Department.
Premier Will Hodgman said Mr Bullard’s decade of experience working across all level of government “will stand him in good stead as we implement our education agenda”.
Mr Bullard is also on the advisory committee for the Peter Underwood Centre, was involved in the development of the Child and Family Centres, and led the state’s negotiation efforts in the federal Gonski school funding legislation.
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said Mr Bullard had his “full support and confidence in taking on this new role”.
Australian Education Union president Helen Richardson said the union welcomed Mr Bullard’s appointment.
