“The timeframes for a recommendation to be provided to cabinet are uncertain at this stage but will be dependent of receipt of the additional information and that it covers off all needs, and then finalisation of the assessment,” an Office of the Coordinator-General spokesman said.
Calvary made an unsolicited proposal to the Coordinator-General in December last year for a multi-level private facility co-located with the Launceston General Hospital.
The new build would replace the private health provider’s St Luke’s and St Vincent’s hospitals in Launceston.
Doctors said co-located hospital set-ups had the ability to attract specialists, who could more easily work in the public and private facilities, and enabled the hospitals to share resources.
