After setting themselves up during Wednesday’s opening day of play against Bowls North West, the visitors were triumphant in all four games on Thursday.
In division one, it was an emotional victory for the Trevallyn Bowls Club, who dedicated the win to former members Tony Benneworth and Tony Long and their families after they both passed away in a boating accident almost a fortnight ago.
Led by rink wins to Rae Simpson, Roger Long and Michael Sims, Trevallyn easily defeated Bowls Tasmania South premiers Sandy Bay 69-32 to take the title.
Deloraine completed its resurgence in the new year by defeating Glenorchy Rodman 76-50 to take out the division two crown. John Gleeson and David Heathcote were the winning skips on the day, with Heathcote dominant in a 38-16 result.
It was a similar story in division three, where Scottsdale made it two wins from as many starts at the event thanks to a 76-56 triumph against Geeveston, which ended and chance Devonport Eagles had of taking the title. Peter Fogarty’s 37-10 result over Liz Rickards proved the deciding factor.
In division four, it was a two-horse race between Devonport Eagles and Cosgrove Park for the title with no southern team entered. The Launceston-based team took out the title with a comfortable 79-53 win.
The bowls season wraps up in Hobart on the weekend at the State Saturday Pennant Titles, with Bowls North represented by North Launceston (premier league), East Launceston (division one), Trevallyn (division two), Invermay (divisions three and six) and West Launceston (divisions four and five).
