About 300 pupils from Tasmania’s North-East coast will experience an orchestral performance on Friday as part of a longstanding joint project.

The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra will perform concert Mozart’s Magic Flute as part of its five year partnership with Bell Bay Aluminium.
TSO marketing and communications director Samuel Cairnduff said the concert was part of an education program aimed to give George Town pupils an opportunity to hear classical music.
“The students love it,” Mr Cairnduff said.
The students were encouraged to use the ‘Mozart effect’, where research has shown listening to Mozart may improve performance of certain kinds of mental tasks, to create a Science Fair-style entry, he said.
The posters detailing their different experiments will be on display at George Town Memorial Hall before the concert.
Bell Bay Aluminium community relations specialist Lou Clark said the partnership enabled pupils to attend the performances locally.
“In previous years students have been in awe of the highly respected and talented musicians so we are delighted to be able to provide this amazing music and educational experience to students from Port Dalrymple and South George Town Primary School, some who will be attending their very first TSO performance,” Ms Clark said.
The entries will be judged by Bell Bay Aluminium after the concert, which starts at 11am.
