Taking on their Bowls North West counterparts in Wednesday’s morning session, Bowls North emerged victorious in all three games.

Division one premiers Trevallyn opened its account with a resounding 80-38 win over Penguin, despite losing on one rink.

Rae Simpson and Josh Appleyard proved to be the difference, both winning by 26 shots over Gaylene Elsworthy and Alison Venn respectively.

In the afternoon session, Sandy Bay made a late surge to draw with Penguin 59-59 despite winning on only one rink. Victories to Karen Redman and Alison Venn were cancelled out by Yvonne Buckley’s 12-shot triumph over Gaylene Elsworthy.

In division two, Deloraine made a winning start by downing Ridgley  64-51. Glenorchy Rodman then eliminated Ridgley from contention with a 76-47 victory, setting up a showdown with Deloraine for the title on Thursday.

Scottsdale put its credentials on display early in division three, winning on two of the three rinks to comfortably defeat Devonport Eagles 76-42.

The Eagles stayed in contention by accounting for Geeveston 63-46 later in the day.

The event will end on Thursday with Bowls North sides to meet Bowls Tasmania South sides from 9am, with a win to Trevallyn, Deloraine or Scottsdale assuring them of the division title.

A loss will see match points then shot difference used to separate the contenders.

The division four title will also be contested on Thursday when Devonport Eagles meet Cosgrove Park, with no southern team entered in the event.
