On a night when Westbury champion Dane Anderson became the association’s newest hall of fame inductee, Smith took out the league best and fairest and batting award thanks a haul of 837 runs across the season at a menacing 76.09.
The reigning premiership skipper also took out the one-day player award on the back of 420 runs at 60 and 18 wickets at 14.33.
Knights paceman Casey Young’s 34 wickets at 11.06 saw South take a clean sweep of the first grade awards, and both he and Smith were named in the team of the year.
“He’s had a fantastic year with the bat,” Cricket North administrator David Fry said of Smith.
“But his bowling has been exemplary as well, particularly in the one-day matches he’s bowled well, as the figures he’s achieved show.
“He’s had a very good year, as captain of last year’s premier team he’s been leading by example.”
Mowbray’s Jarrod Freeman and Launceston’s James Curran were recognised as the league’s best youngsters, winning the under-19 and under-17 awards respectively.
Riverside captain Sophie Parkin was called out twice in the women’s awards, sharing player of the year with South opener Caitlyn Webster and winning bowler of the year for a league-high 20 wickets at 5.7.
Parkin’s opening batter Ianthe Boden won the batting average award on the back of 274 runs at 54.8.
Jerome Illingworth, Ruben Woolcock and Jarrod Morrow took out the second, third, and fourth grade player of the year awards.
