The 61-year-old Scottsdale man was driving a fully laden log truck on Cuckoo Hill Road when the log truck rolled partially down an embankment.
He died at the scene.
While the investigation into the cause is still ongoing its believed a medical condition is being looked into. A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
Dorset Mayor Greg Howard said while he didn’t have any details of the crash, any fatality affected the community.
“Any road fatality is terrible but we should be making sure we don’t have any,” he said.
“We need to work hard as a community to ensure this doesn’t happen.”
Tasmania Police, Tasmania Fire Service, Ambulance Tasmania and transport inspectors all attended the scene after the incident was reported about 1pm.
Access to Cuckoo Hill Road was restricted while the scene was cleared, however, it is a privately managed road and was not blocked.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
