In opening the meeting, Premier Will Hodgman paid tribute to the efforts of re-elected members, losing members Nic Street and Joan Rylah, and incoming parliamentarian Sue Hickey.
He said the election result was a strong endorsement from Tasmanians.
“It was a very well-run campaign, undeniably, and it delivered a result that was only marginally less than the result we received at the last election,” Mr Hodgman said.
“We have a majority, we have a mandate, and we will work very constructively to deliver on all that we promised.”
Even though he was doling out of ministerial portfolios, Mr Hodgman himself at the meeting needed to confirm with the parliamentary party that it was happy for him to serve as its leader for the next term of government.
