Tigers paceman Riley Meredith dismissed ex-Launceston all-rounder Alex Pyecroft and ripped through the Lightning’s top-order on his way to figures of 3-50, while Cameron Stevenson took 5-74 and ex-Mowbray all-rounder Fletcher Seymour 1-21.
Charles Wakim top-scored with 46, while fellow Tiger Ben McDermott made 17.
Freeman hit seven boundaries in a run-a-ball 34 but couldn’t stop his side losing 7-60 to fall to 160 all out.
The 17-year-old George Town native then took 0-17 from 11 overs as Clarence made 2-115 from 40 overs, with Mac Wright collecting state-listed Liam Devlin in the last over of the day.
Things are much tighter in South Hobart Sandy Bay’s clash with North Hobart.
The newly-crowned Statewide T20 champions sent North Hobart in to bat and despite losing early wickets, the Demons fought back as Caleb Jewell made 77 at the top of the order.
North-West young gun Corey Murfet then took over the reins, hitting two sixes and seven boundaries in a splendid 78 not out as the Demons finished their 96 overs at 6-247.
Kyle Wisniewski was the pick of the Sharks’ bowlers with 4-51, while ex-Hurricane Ben Dunk sent down 20 overs without success.
Both matches will continue at 10.30am on Sunday.
