City of Launceston’s general manager Michael Stretton said getting to this stage was “very exciting”.
“We’re aware of a lot of community support for such a fantastic playground development,” he said.
"Local schools and disability support agencies like St Giles have helped us select a range of play equipment for the project — including a suite of all-abilities play equipment — and the playground will also include the 12-metre-tall skywalk, which is sure to delight children.”

The council hope to deliver on the entire North Bank project, including the playgrounds, parkour and sport courts, events space, barbecue facilities and 15,000 plants and trees, by “this calendar year”.
The works on the North Bank pedestrian and cycle bridge also remains on track for a mid-year completion.
“Work [is] now focused on constructing the superstructure off-site. All the required piling work has been completed,” Mr Stretton said.
