As of Tuesday the ride-sharing service will call on expressions of interest for drivers in the Launceston region.
The company will send emails to people across Tasmania who have indicated they would like to drive with the Uber app, as well as existing drivers in Hobart.
State manager for Victoria and Tasmania, Lucas Groeneveld, said it was an exciting step forward for the company.
“Uber is exploring options to expand ridesharing to additional areas of Tasmania, in particular Launceston, Devonport and Burnie,” he said.
“In Hobart, ride-sharing provides a safe and reliable way to get around the local area at the push of a button and is an affordable alternative to existing transport networks particularly for tourists and visitors.
"Driving is different in every city, and in Northern Tasmania we expect riders to be most active on weekends and around major events."
Since launching in Tasmania during December 2016, Uber has amassed more than 28,000 regular riders, and been used by visitors from 60 different countries.
Its expansion from Hobart comes after a survey was conducted asking people in Launceston and Devonport whether they would like to see Uber in Northern Tasmania.
Representatives from the company have also held meetings with City of Launceston and the Launceston Chamber of Commerce in the past couple of weeks.
Uber will be holding information sessions in Launceston and Devonport on March 26 and March 27, respectively.
Anyone wanting more information on the app, or on how to become a driver can register their interest at https://www.uber.com/en-AU/drive/hobart/.
The site was updated on Monday night to include the Launceston region.
Uber is currently legal in every Australian state.
