As at 7:34pm the Greens have collected 8.33 per cent of the vote in Bass, with Ms Dawkins winning 740 number one votes.
“Of course it is going to be tough for us, it always is but is is very early days,” she said.
Ms Dawkins said the team had worked “so hard” and had to bring confidence into the day.
“The support that I have received from the community today has been actually completely overwhelming so no matter what the final count is I know that the greens have got a lot of support in Bass and in Launceston and I really hope that continues,” she said.
Her daughters flew into Tasmania today to support her and she spent her time at Harvest in the morning, shopping and enjoying time with her family.
The Liberals are polling strong in Bass, recording 60.77 per cent of the vote thus far at 7:34pm, while Labor is at 25.03 per cent, the JLN at 4.95 per cent and Independent Brett Edward with 120 votes.
About 18 per cent of the votes in Bass have been counted.
