A morning showing of The Wizard of Oz marked the first public screening for the venue, which has undergone an extensive refurbishment throughout the past six months.
Initial reviews were positive, with audience member Lori Pilkington indicating she would most likely come back to the theatre.
“It’s come up really well,” she said.
“I like that they are showing some of the older movies too.”
Saturday’s schedule was preceded with a special screening of The Greatest Showman on Friday night for those who have assisted the theatre’s development.
Co-owner Ben Davis said it was the perfect start to the venue’s new life in Launceston.
“We had about 100 people come along, which was really nice to see,” he said.
“There were even some people who used to work at the old Vinnies store that we initially took over.
“We just wanted to say thank you to everyone who had been a part of this.”
The Star Theatre is located at 217B Invermay Road. For more information about screenings, or to book tickets, head to www.startheatre.com.au.
