Launceston RSPCA Animal Care Centre manager Lorraine Hamilton said they had received a lot of interest after The Examiner published a story about Griff’s remarkable recovery on Thursday.
She said Griff had gone to a “loving family” from the state’s South and would be enjoying a very good life, including daily walks on the beach.
The two-year-old dog had stolen the hearts of the centre’s staff after he was brought in with horrific injuries to his neck.
George Town’s Kim Nielsen said she originally found Griff wandering in bushland and said it took about eight weeks before she could earn his trust to rescue him.
“He had lost all faith in humanity because of the treatment of his previous owner,” she said.
“I spent many nights crying over this boy being out there alone and in such a bad way.
“The day I actually got to him he had just given up.
“After putting him in my car and taking him home and and fully seeing his injuries was when I became angry.
“He changed from a shy, timid dog to a goofball of love in a matter of minutes because of the kindest myself and my son had shown him.”
Mrs Nielsen said she had hoped to adopt Griff herself, but unfortunately her own dog didn’t get along with him.
“I really hope he goes to a super home as he deserves nothing but the best in his future,” she said.
