The planned works would better assist school teachers, students, visitors and the wider community when they visit the site of the first publicly owned hydro-electric plant in the Southern hemisphere.
“We have spent five years working on it, making people aware of the importance of the historical engineering history of Launceston,” Mr Dennington said.
Bass Liberal MHA Michael Ferguson said a re-elected government would give $51,000 towards the upgrades.
“The power station is a point of interest in Launceston’s development and it’s important we support community organisations to educate and help preserve such facilities for future generations,” he said.
“It’s also about creating greater connections to our local heritage and local history.”
