The rich history of the Chin people was celebrated at Rocherlea on Tuesday as part of the 70th anniversary of Chin National Day.

Families and dignitaries gathered for an afternoon of music, food, dancing and speeches from the Launceston Chin Community Inc.
Guests were given a hat on arrival, which featured the Chin State flag.
Community group vice president Rolance Roliana said the event reflected the spirit of the Chin people.
“We are open-minded people,” he said.
“We would do anything to help each other out, and we want to show people that.”
One of the major ethnic groups of Burma, the Chin people live the mountains along the Myanmar-India borders and neighbouring areas.
The Launceston Chin community is made up of more than 35 families, many of which were represented on Tuesday.
Other guests included Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten, and Migrant Resource Centre North chief executive Ella Dixon.
