TasWater crews arrived on site at 7.30am, with cars diverted away from the area between Wellington Street and Bathurst Street from 9am.

While water was visible on the road, it did not impact the surrounding properties.

A TasWater spokesperson said the water main was repaired and water was restored in the early hours of Sunday morning.

TasWater said it is not yet able to advise the quantity of water lost through the burst main until the information is made available through its monitoring systems.
