The party announced $1.81 million of funding in its Flinders Island package, including $900,000 to increase maritime safety, $500,000 on accommodation for health professionals and $225,000 over four years to improve biosecurity.
Bass Liberal MHA Sarah Courtney also said Flinders Island District school will be extended to year 12 by 2022 under a Liberal government.
Deputy opposition leader Michelle O’Byrne said a Labor government would station one of its proposed 20 extra biosecurity officers on Flinders Island.
“Urgent action is required to give confidence to international markets that we are taking this issue seriously and investing in bolstering our biosecurity capability,” she said.
“Labor will have more announcements to make regarding Flinders Island prior to election day.”
