General manager John Brown said funding toward water infrastructure was of “direct importance” in the council’s election priorities.
Liberals pledged more than $1.5 million toward water-based activities in the municipality if it wins the election. Out of this, $685,000 would fund refurbishing jetties and building new facilities.
“The value of these jetties is immeasurable to our local community as they provide so much more than just a beautiful tourist snap,” mayor Mick Tucker said.
A Labor spokesperson said an additional $1.5 million would go to MAST in their Fishing for the Future policy.
