Uber has sent out surveys to people in Northern Tasmania, requesting information about whether they would like to see the ride-sharing service in Devonport or Launceston.

While there is no version of Uber in Northern Tasmania, customers who may have tried to order an Uber in the region have been contacted by the company via email, and asked about the prospect of it expanding from Hobart.
An Uber spokesperson said the company was always looking for opportunities to extend its reach.
“Whilst we don't have any immediate plans to bring UberX to Launceston and Devonport or Uber Eats to Hobart, we are always evaluating new areas and hope to continue expanding to across Tasmania,” he said.
“We look at the population size to ensure that there is sufficient demand to keep the experience viable.”
Uber is currently legal in every state, with Victoria the last to approve the service in 2017.
Tasmania joined Queensland, Western Australia, and South Australia in legalising Uber in 2016, while New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory ruled it to be legal in 2015.
