Launceston left-armer Woods took the scalps of Mowbray trio Sagar Chhetri, Jono Jones and Spencer Hayes to claim his first hat-trick in 14 years of senior cricket.

“They were going alright at 5-219 and then I came on just before we were about to take the second new ball and got a breakthrough so I thought ‘yeah that’s cool’,” the 28-year-old said.

“The next guy came out and he nicked one to second slip - he dropped it and it rebounded to first slip who dove forward and took it one-handed.

“Then the third guy came out - a little bit of a field change everyone came in and the guy at mid-off, we were going to leave him there, but late change we brought him right in.

“Sure enough he spooned it up to short mid-off and thanks for coming.”

After bowling Riverside pair Emily Nunn and Tania Maynard with the last two balls of the 43^rd over, Blair had a whole over to plan her hat-trick ball.

When the chance finally came the 18-year-old struck Hollie Broad on the pads and her whole team appealed.

“It was nerve-wracking to see if the other bowler would get that last wicket because it was the last wicket of the innings - luckily nothing happened,” Blair said.

“(When I took the third wicket) they all jumped on me and I got the innings ball and then we walked off and had some drinks with the other team.”
