In a paper received by the Liberal and Labor parties, the council detailed its list of priority projects for the Bass and Lyons electorates.
Sitting atop the list was recreation facilities for three towns – Westbury, Prospect Vale and Deloraine.
The $5 million Westbury Recreation Centre was approved last year, while a feasibility study for a Deloraine and Districts Recreational Centre was received by the council in January.
The council is seeking the total cost of the Westbury development and $4.3 million to fund the first stage of the Deloraine project.
The council is also seeking $1.2 million for a new car park as a part of its Prospect Vale Park development.
Meander Valley mayor Craig Perkins said he was very confident the municipality will secure funding for a number of the projects.
“I would be hoping that we’ll see investment in sports and recreation – that’s where you get big bang for your dollar in terms of community use and support,” he said.
“Politicians on both sides are interested in sport and recreation-type projects and are interested in where our challenges are [on those projects].”
Cr Perkins said there were also other “less sexy” projects that were vitally needed government funding.
He singled-out further development at Hadspen and sewerage improvements at Bracknell as two he would like to see “get over the line”.
“There are some really important projects around infrastructure and growing our regional towns and communities we’re looking at,” he said.
“In winter time there’s often poor outflow in the water drains so putting in a proper sewerage system is important for Bracknell.
“Down the path we’ll need further investment in infrastructure around waste water treatment as it grows.”
Infrastructure Minister Rene Hidding said the government had promised “a number” of policies in Meander Valley, including an upgrade of the Ashley Detention Centre, with more to come.
Labor were contacted for comment.
