Ten local artists and printmakers scoured history books, diaries, newspapers and family records to discover stories of Tasmanian passion to inspire their work.
Tasmanian Love Stories curator Bec Donaldson said the exhibition would celebrate love in all of its forms during the month of Valentine.
However, they would not just be stories of romance, Donaldson said.
The prints and artworks would encompass passion, devotion, tragedy and mystery.
“I think art is a really powerful way of telling Tasmanian stories,” she said.
Artists didn’t always have an opportunity to dig deeply into history, including some Deloraine stories, which they had been able to for this exhibition, she said.
Each print and artwork will be accompanied with a short story delving into the historic passion the artist unearthed.
People are welcome to come to the opening night on Saturday, which will start at 5.30pm at the Deloraine Creative Studios.
The gallery will be open on Valentine’s Day.
Donaldson hoped people would treat themselves to a wander around the exhibition on the day.
