The $560 million plan would see 100 more graduate nurse positions open as well as 20 hospital doctors, 25 ambulance paramedics, and fund 32 general practitioner internships.
Of the funding package, $47.5 million will be dedicated for health professional employment and $75 million strategy to improve waiting times for outpatient appointments, as well as more funding for elective surgeries.
Labor leader Rebecca White said each of the state’s four hospitals would have its masterplans updated to identify future capital improvement projects and location of more services.
She said this would all be done through collaboration with health professionals.
“We have listened to health professionals and we understand what is needed to fix the crisis and now is the time to work together to see that achieved,” Ms White said.
