A $50,000 Community Infrastructure Grant will go towards works at Ti Tree Crescent Park, while a $33,000 grant will be spent at Reservoir Road Playground and Reserve. 

Funds will also be supplied by the federal government and city council.

Council recreation planning officer Roger Faulkner said there were three stages of works at the Ti Tree Crescent Park. 

The first included the installation of a basketball half court and steel seating inscribed with quotes from the community, which can also be used by skateboarders.

Mayor Albert van Zetten said the next stage of works will begin in March.

“Stage two is BMX tracks for kids to be able to go on their bikes through the bush and stage three will be further play equipment,” he said. Work on a kicking space with goals at Reservoir Road is due to start in the next few weeks.

“Next to it we are doing a little nature play area with some balance beams, boulders, and a few pieces of equipment,” Mr Faulkner said.

Bass Liberal MHA Michael Ferguson congratulated the council and the Northern suburbs community for identifying the projects to enhance community and social health. 

“[The] fund is designed to build stronger local communities by supporting projects that deliver long-term economic and social benefits,” he said.
