The Launceston-based telecommunications company has attracted 550 customers in the two months since it rolled out its new service offering – an “extraordinary” effort, according to Launtel director Damian Ivereigh.
Mr Ivereigh said he hoped that number would increase fourfold by the end of 2018.
“We were hopeful we would do well [in residential sales], but it has exceeded our expectations,” Mr Ivereigh said.
“To have that many customers in the space of two months is pretty extraordinary for us.”
The internet provider uses the NBN network to provide the fastest internet speeds in Australia, according to Mr Ivereigh.
Launtel’s capability to provide gigabit internet speeds – 1000 megabites per second – to customers with a fibre to the premises NBN connection is something the company prides itself on.
Launtel’s residential customers can also move their internet speeds and prices up or down on a daily basis to suit their needs – something not possible with mainstream telcos.
“People really like the flexibility,” Mr Ivereigh said.
“You have the ability to connect and disconnect when you like, and not be charged when you're not connected.
“Feedback has also been positive about the ease of getting hold of us.
“The few people that have had complaints – it’s usually a technical problem – we can fix by getting NBN involved or [by adjusting] something on their local network.”
