Aaron Page continued his winning ways with a 15-shot win over Barry Dennis. Table Stewart put in a best-on-ground performance, supported well by Sam Springer and Peter Zoon, giving Page constant bowls in the head to work with. The Adam Gurr rink put the pedal to the metal after the break, scoring 24 shots in a 24-shot demolition of Lumpy Edwards. Adam Gurr played his best ever game for East and Robert McMullen rounded out the win with an 18-shot victory over Turtle.
Scores were tied at 14 apiece at half time before the crew of Stewart Groom, Sugar Stewart and Will Springer combined superbly to put the result beyond doubt. The win puts East seven points clear on top of the ladder.
Longford had a home ground encounter with North Launceston in a game which could have seen the Tigers clear some ground in fourth position on the ladder with other results going their way, but North snuck a 10-2 win. Fred McKay started off with a bang against David Minns, scoring five shots on the first end, but it was Minns who took control of the game from that point.
Tyson Harris played well in his second premier game in the leads position helping his rink to a 15-shot victory. Tim Douce got over the line in a close encounter with Daniel Baker, both teams playing well throughout the afternoon producing good heads for their skips to convert.
Joey Thomas was the difference in his win against Andrew Whitmore, playing big bowls when his team needed him. Thomas was helped by a dominant performance by David “Grandad” Hobbs in the leads position.
Invermay’s quest to break into the super top four suffered a significant blow with a 2-10 loss to Cosgrove Park who ran away with an eight-shot overall win. Scooter Stagg and Paul West were sensational in their 29-19 win over Gene Ayton. Alan Southern’s rink ended up a victor against Bec Van Asch in a very tight game thanks to a great performance from Byron Slater.
Shane Boden was Invermay’s sole winner thanks to another superb leading performance from Kim Saunders. Invermay has a tough road to finals in their first season of Premier, still to play all four of the teams above them on the ladder. They will be looking to bounce back quickly ahead of their home game against Trevallyn next week.
Kings Meadows has kept their head above water with an all-rinks win over Bridport. Heading into the break, Kings Meadows were eight down across the rinks. After the break Shane Davern won the last ten ends, taking his rink by nine shots over Chris Walker.
The relegation battle has tightened, with the bottom four separated by only three shots. Scottsdale, Cosgrove Park, Kings Meadows and Bridport are all still in danger of going out the back door.
