The man was critically injured during the incident on Saturday, January 13.

A Tasmania Police spokeswoman was unable to confirm where the man was from, but it is believed he is Italian.

Tasmania Police had last week charged a 30-year-old Lucaston man with negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm, driving under the influence, driving without due care and attention and driving unlicensed.

He appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday, January 15, and was remanded to reappear next month.

Huonville’s main street was closed for several hours while emergency services responded to the crash. 

Tasmanian Police said their thoughts were with the man’s family.
