The blaze is at Lake Leake Road, near the Midland Highway.
Firefighters said there was no immediate threat to communities, but that there may be smoke and ash visible around Campbell Town.
“People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn,” the Tasmania Fire Service said in a statement.
“People travelling in the area should exercise caution if driving in smoke. Turn on your headlights and drive slowly.
“If you live in the area of the fire, stay informed in case conditions change by monitoring local radio stations and our website, fire.tas.gov.au.”
Advice for people with medical conditions is available on the Health Department’s website, dhhs.tas.gov.au.
Campbell Town was forecast to reach a high of 35 on Friday.
Tasmania Fire Service extended a fire ban, which was declared for Thursday in parts of the North, to Friday.
