It was quieter this time, actually an A-380 taking off would have been quieter than Aryna Sabalenko, but Ashleigh Barty made her own noise in the second round of the Australian Open.

As she did against Sabalenko, Barty needed to come from behind to win in three sets. As she did against Sabalenko, the top-ranked Australian woman found a way to absorb her big-hitting opponent and navigate her own cunning path to rumble through to the third round.
The precociously mature 21-year-old again was patient and swallowed the fact that the aggressive Italian Camila Giorgi would hit many balls that required more an appreciative nod of the head in reply than a swing of the racquet. But she figured that if she persisted with cutting angles, changing the pace and moving Giorgi around the court, how long could Giorgi sustain her hitting?
The answer was about 1 set.
"I would like to not lose the first set all the time and not get hit off the court.
"It's nice to get through in three sets and sort of feel good and work my way into the match," Barty said afterwards.
"It was nice to get through that in the end. It could have been a very sticky match.
"It was pretty tough but it was nice to get through the last one [the first round] as well."
Giorgi plays an agreeably first- instinct game. Presented with a ball she will try to hit a winner each time, every time. She does not set the point up like a bowler might a wicket over the course of an over or two, she goes for a wicket every shot she plays.
But Barty knows a bit about cricket, she knows what it is to set up an over to take a wicket, or work a player over to win a point.
In cricket terms Giorgi was more T20 to Barty's Test player, which meant that Barty won, but Giorgi is an eminently watchable player.
Last night, Barty again revealed the guile in her game to fall behind to a rip-it-and-run hitter but not panic. She thought through a plan and executed it.
On the reluctantly cooling centre court Barty moved Giorgi around through the second and third sets, pushing her wider and wider, making her cover more ground, and the Italian looked physically restricted as the game wore on.
As with Sabalenko, Barty didn't try to match her for power on her shots but she made sure that the big shots Giorgi was hitting were from harder and harder places to hit them. Consequently, more shots started to miss, the pace dropped, and by the third set Giorgi had gone into her shell, looked consigned to her inevitable fate.
The 18th seed has now made it through to the third round, repeating her effort of last year. The 21-year-old is even better now.
As a complete aside, has any other player played with an actual Vegemite patch on their top - and not just a smear down the front from a dropped piece of toast - as Barty did with the patch on her shirt?
