Doolan carried his bat with an unbeaten 70 from 55 balls as Hobart finished at 4-176 in reply to the home side’s 4-187 at the Adelaide Oval.
He finished with a bang, scoring 44 from his last 25 balls, including three sixes in one over of Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, but lamented his work early on.
“I think you have you to give Adelaide a lot of credit as they bowled particularly well throughout the whole game and there wasn’t any time where we really got on top of them with the bat,” said Doolan, who now has 186 runs at 26.57 with a strike-rate of 115.52 for BBL07.
“In saying that we still think we could have chased down that total.
“It is bittersweet to be honest (his fifty) as batting the whole innings it was my responsibility to get us over the line
“I batted pretty poorly to begin with to be honest, and that may have cost us the game to be honest.
“We aim for perfection and when it doesn’t come off, you’ve got to take responsibility or you’re not going to get any better.”
The Hurricanes will get another chance to lock in their BBL07 finals spot when they face ladder-leaders Perth Scorchers at the WACA on Saturday.
That match at the “Furnace” will start at 9.20pm.
