The total fire ban will apply in the Break O’Day region and Northern Midlands until midnight, as well as the state’s Southern region, which includes the Central Highlands.
Tasmania Fire Service has warned the North-East will face “very high fire danger” on Thursday, with temperatures expected to reach 29 degrees in Launceston before heating up to 33 degress on Friday.
TFS Acting Deputy Chief Officer Jeremy Smith said the ban could continue until Friday and an embargo was in place for all fire permits until further notice.
Mr Smith said “no fires can be lit in the open air” as part of the ban.
"People are reminded to check all fires they may have had on their property, including any campfires to ensure they are fully extinguished and check their Bushfire Survival Plan,” he said.
