The walk and talk explored the different flora and fauna the gorge has to offer, while also providing information about how to keep the catchment healthy.
Basin Cottage volunteer Rocelyn Ives said she had run the tour numerous times over the last few years.
“[The session] is to help people see when they come to the gorge that it’s just a bit deeper than somewhere to come for a swim,” she said.
NRM North biodiversity project co-ordinator Alison Hugo was on-hand to provide expert knowledge and guidance about the area’s diversity.
She emphasised the important role everyone had in keeping the Launceston icon in a pristine condition for all of its inhabitants.
“A lot of the questions [we’re answering] today are around what happens in the catchment – that could be around industry or how people use it recreationally,” she said.
