It will be a celebration of the queer talent on show in Tasmania as well as the legalising of same-sex marriage in Australia.
Diversity Launceston co-director Cordelia Attenborough said it was an important event to give members of the LGBTIAQ community
Not many events were for and by the queer community, Attenborough said.
The event aimed to show members of the community that being queer did not hold them back, she said.
Often sexuality and identity was not discussed openly by queer performers in Tasmania
That was partly because performers wanted their audience to be able to relate to their material and instead found “a middle ground”.
She hoped the show would help people talk about their lives and experiences within the queer community through comedy and slam poetry.
The line up includes comedians Brodi Lucas, Liz Corrick, Mike Cann and Cole Arthur Wykes, while Edwina Blush will perform burlesque on the night.
Megan Casey, Attenborough, Heather Cassowary, Kristjan-Matisse Killiean and Anna Stewart will perform slam poetry.
- The Queer Soirée will start at 7pm at the Red Brick Road Cider House on February 1. Entry is $5 at the door.
