Queensland’s Lewis Hoath overcome a two-stroke deficit on the final day at Greens Beach Golf Club – shooting a course-equalling record 68 in the final round to defeat overnight leader and Hobart runner up Joey Bower by seven strokes.
Hoath gradually improved with each round to score a 75, 71, 70 and 68 for a card-square 284 strokes, while Bower finished the under-17 boys and girls three-day 72-hole tournament with a 77-stroke round.
A further three shots behind in overall third was fellow Queenslander Jack Korotcoff.
Prospect Vale’s Ryan Thomas, who led after round one, finished fifth.
In the girls’ event, Victorian Sheradyn Johnson maintained her lead to win by seven strokes from South Australia’s Caitlin Peirce.
Johnson was consistent over the four rounds with a total 297, while Peirce fired a final-round of 77 for a total 304.
Hallie Meaburn was the best placed Tasmanian, 13 shots behind the leader.
Most participants will now line-up in the two-day Tasmanian junior masters at Riverside Golf Club, starting Thursday.
