In his first race of the season, the 20-year-old finished fifth in the elite men’s race through Nerang National Park on Sunday in one hour, 14 minutes and 49 seconds – 2:52 behind winner Anton Cooper. The result backed up a 10th-place time in Saturday’s third round.
“It was my first elite podium, making it one of my best results,” the Van Diemen Cycling rider said.
“It was 37 degrees on Saturday and then cooled down on Sunday… racing was pretty fast.”
Lack will likely miss rounds five and six before tackling the Oceania championships in New Zealand, starting February 9.
However, his main aim is to do well at the Australian championships in New South Wales later next month.
Fellow Tasmanian Ben Bradley is fourth in the series overall despite not participating on weekend.
