The 27-year-old former Tasmanian wicketkeeper from Smithton will be one of two guest players for Wynyard for the opening day of its two-day encounter with Ulverstone.
The red-ball contest, which will also see Hobart grade cricket stalwart Josh Bean front up for the Blues, will also double as the club’s Past Players/Committee/Coaches and Sponsors Day.
“Being involved in the competition is quite exciting,’’ he said on Friday.
“I haven’t actually played cricket for a year, so it will be good fun to get back out in the middle again.
“I guess I hadn’t thought about it too much in regards to what it may mean to come back and play, but it will be nice to come back and have a game on the Coast as I a lot of people on the North-West Coast have helped me out with my career.
“So it will be nice in some small way to come back and hopefully the competition.
“I’m not setting too high of expectations for myself out there, but it’s going to be good fun.”
Triffitt, who played his club cricket at Launceston, also spent time with Western Australia, Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars, now spends his time working in real estate in Hobart.
The first ball on Saturday at Wynyard Showgrounds will be at 10am.
