The Music Tree director Tonya Norris has been hosting an annual fancy dress day for several years.
Each of the children bring a gold coin to go towards The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal.
The appeal supports four Northern charities around the festive season – the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Pail Society, the Benevolent Society and City Mission.
“It’s a nice opportunity for us to give back to children,” Ms Norris said.
“It has become a bit of a tradition.”
Although there had been a few changes since Ms Norris first set up the day.
The children’s costumes switched from Cinderella to Elsa (from Frozen), Ms Norris said.
The inspiration for the children’s costumes was mainly derived from television and movies, she said.
The Empty Stocking Appeal has raised more than $55,000 in its 109th year.
