Tasmania Police said the concrete truck was travelling west on Tea Tree Road about 10.10am when it left the roadway after exiting a right-hand bend.
Police say the truck then rolled onto its left hand side and slid down an embankment into a power pole, causing the driver to go through the windscreen
A member of the public initially assisted the driver at the scene until emergency services attended.
Crews from Tasmania Ambulance, Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police attended the scene.
The man was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition, but later died from his injuries.
