The Rosebery Carnival hosts a range of athletes, with a high level of competition expected in the rock drilling, wood chopping, cycling, athletics and mixed relay events.
Rosebery Athletic Club secretary Duncan Murfet said the interest in this year’s carnival had been similar to previous years with a good number of entries.
“We are looking at having similar numbers to previous years of the carnival with just slight changes to the program,” Murfet said.
Murfet believed the highlights of the carnival would come from the wood chopping and the mixed relay.
“The one highlight of the carnival will be the Tasmanian 400mm Underhand championship wood chop with competitors at the top likely to be Stephen Foster, Sam Cook and Kody Steers.
“And the other highlight will be Anne Drake Memorial mixed relay, which is where all four disciplines join together to compete at teams.
“We start with rock drilling, then cyclists and athletes before the teams are finished off with wood chopping.”
