In a statement posted to social media, Tasmania Police said while both dogs were in a distressed state, they were otherwise okay.
It follows on from an incident last month where a photo of dog in a car on Margaret Street caught the attention of the RSPCA and Tasmania Police.
Anyone who sees a distressed dog in a car should call the police on 131 444, so they may be able to work with the RSPCA to resolve it.
