Porte’s team for the first UCI WorldTour race of the season will include Simon Gerrans and Rohan Dennis, who between the trio have won the past four editions.
Rounding out the team will be New Zealander Patrick Bevin and Swiss duo Tom Bohli and Danilo Wyss.
Porte, 32, has fully recovered from his horrific Tour de France crash and said he will be looking to claim the iconic Willunga Hill stage for the fifth straight year.
“After mostly missing the last part of the 2017 season, it will be good to get 2018 underway, especially at the Santos Tour Down Under, which is one of my favourite races of the calendar,” Porte said.
BMC sports director Fabio Baldato said he expects some stiff competition next month.
The 20th edition of the iconic Adelaide race will run from January 16 to 21.
