Hobart-trained stayer Le Baz won his first race since June, returning to form in defeating a top-class field in the summer distance over 600 metres at Mowbray last Monday.

Moderate away at the start and fourth at the judge the first time around, Le Baz ($10.40) unleashed a power-lifting finish to run down Bobby Bound in the straight, to win by three-quarters of a length.
The Mick Stringer-trained son of Spring Gun, ran the journey in a respected 35.20secs, returning to Launceston where he claimed the distance championship trophy during the winter carnival
Arugula and Shima Sun raced in the lead for most of the journey, finishing on in the minor placings.
Racing returns to Mowbray on Monday night with a full 10-race card, the two selections of the program start off in the first with Miss Greer and in the fourth with Rivenlee Lad over the 278m.
