More than 150 jobs are open at the Australian Antarctic Division’s three Antarctic stations and on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island.

Roles available include short summer terms of four months, and up to 18 months over winter, with positions open for trades, engineers, communications, station leaders and more.
The division’s human resources manager Andrew Groom said the division particularly wanted to see more women applying.
“All applicants are assessed for their job specific skills, but also undergo comprehensive medical and adaptability assessments to determine their fitness and suitability for life in Antarctica,” he said.
“Antarctica is a place that many people dream of experiencing, but few have the chance to.”
Successful applicants will undergo extnsive medical and adaptability assessments to determine their fitness for life in Antarctica, and may receive additional training to cover other roles on the stations.
Recruitment is open until January 24.
