Some of the race classes were low on numbers, however, they still provided plenty of action and excitement.
The street stock final was as exciting as any class of racing seen anywhere at anytime. A random grid draw shook things up and drivers were battling for position throughout the field.
Dale Riley Jnr started from mid-pack and worked his way forward throughout the 20 lap journey.
John Riley had his hands full at the front full fending off Mat Atkinson and Corey Bauld, until Riley Jnr charged through to take the lead after a restart halfway through the race.
The Formula 500’s had a great battle with Dylan Beveridge gaining the upper hand on Taylor Johnson in the final. Beveridge and Johnson were equal in points with Beveridge winning the toss and starting on pole.
He drove away to a handy margin before an early caution brought the field back together for a restart.
He caught the field napping and pulled away to handy gap that was extended as the race progressed. Ricky Weatherill had an eventful night finishing in third.
The wingless category continued to impress with some tight racing.
Luke Redpath was challenged early by Jacob Goodluck but the real battle was for third. Troy Lewis was passed on several occasions only to be saved by a caution flag, which resulted in the lap scorers returning positions to the previous lap.
In the end Lewis withstood the pressure for a fine third position.
A solid drive from Daniel Brooks saw him open a commanding lead as he drove away to victory in the AMCA’s.
The battle for second was intense with Adrian Bassett holding out a determined Craig Bagorski and Rodney Bassett. Bagorski tried an outside passing move that cost him a podium finish as Rodney Bassett moved into third followed very closely by Jake Briggs.
A small field of Super Sedans still provided entertainment and Steve Latham withstood pressure from Wayne Dillon early in the race to secure the win. Dillon eventually retired with a flat right rear on lap four.
The younger Lucas Dillon inherited second and held out a determined Anthony Manion on the run to the flag.
Another spectacular night in the full-contact bombers saw Kylie Jetson roll spectacularly in the second heat.
She returned in the final and was turned around while passing a lapped car.
Todd Bennett weathered the storm and was victorious from Josh Briggs and Jetson.
Cody Dransfield dominated the senior kart final after starting from the rear.
In the juniors it was Aspen Auton who held out a determined Cooper Stuart and Chase Redpath.
The speedway season continues next Saturday at Carrick speedway.
